RECK+GASS sponsors Björn Steiger Foundation

Patenschaft Ausbildung von Schülern an der Pestalozzischule Horb am Neckar

More than 100,000 people still die of cardiac death in Germany each year. Prompt intervention could save many of these lives, but the majority of Germans still would not dare to try and do chest compressions or use a defibrillator.

In 2014 the school committee of the Conference of State Education Ministers therefore recommended introducing resuscitation courses to the curriculum of secondary schools from Year 7 onwards. Implementing these courses continues to be difficult in many federal states, however.

This is why the Björn Steiger Foundation launched the “Retten macht Schule” project, providing support wherever it is financially possible for the foundation to do so.

RECK+GASS previously sponsored the initial equipment for the Pestalozzi School in Horb am Neckar several years ago. This allowed teaching staff to receive initial training from a medical educationalist and equipped the school with test dummies, handbooks, a training film as well as its own defibrillator training device, all of which were specially developed for the project. The school was of course also provided with a free defibrillator.

RECK+GASS  has now decided to support the school with a new sponsorship this year that will allow the school to continue teaching life-saving resuscitation methods to its pupils. The sponsorship will allow the teachers to be trained in accordance with current findings and for teaching materials to be updated.
